I am still marking exams... but before I descend fully into "not a red pen" mode... I think this is rather (what's that word?) pertinent, relevant, apt, appropriate (oh I don't know).

I can't find my comment codes.  I don't remember when my physio appointment is and I have a headache.  I wonder where my wrist brace is???

See you on the other side.

Faith can be Funny

This gave me a good old giggle. :D

I'm a addicted to Pinterest.  There is no other way to describe it.  I saw this photo on Pinterest yesterday and just had to share it.

Favourite Websites

I am well aware that I have weblinks on my blog.  I won't be talking about those.  In fact, I have so many favourite places to go when I become my cyber-self that I am thinking about adding a page to the blog just for links.  But I think that might be a job for the holidays.  Only two weeks to go.

Beware, pinterest is addictive.

There are some things we can all relate to but none of us is brave enough to say them out loud.  So someone decided to blog them instead.

The name just makes me giggle.  I'm busy procrastinating.

I only found this website today.  I'm obviously a bit behind the times.. but I agree that Parents Shouldn't Text.  FYI: this one contains a few "adult" themes.

I don't think I need to tell you that I think the VLOGBROTHERS are AWESOME.

Well that makes 5.  They are probably not necessarily my top 5: nor are they my most visited.  But there you go, 5 favourites.

Limerick: Hagrid and Honey

There once was a bear, we called Hagrid
Who sat on my chair, when abandoned,
The chair was so soft,
He felt like he was the boss,
So he stole the remote single-handed.

Hagrid's girlfriend is a teddy called Honey,
She thinks that Hagrid's quite funny.
On their first date, they did kiss,
Hagrid thought it was bliss
And they'll picnic next time it is sunny.

Oh well, it was worth a try.

Leaders of the Future?

A few weeks ago, I was asked to supervise a year 12 class while they finished up an assignment.  Their usual teacher was away sick.  The students arrived promptly, we entered the classroom and they got straight to work.  There were a couple of boys who were done, so I asked them to go to my office and get a pile of butchers' paper from my desk (my year 9 students had completed a brainstorming activity earlier in the day and I wanted to collate their responses).  The boys were happy to oblige.

After about 20 mins (far longer than it should have taken) the boys returned and asked, "is this it, Miss? or did you want the one that wasn't broken?"
Bear in mind, ladies and gentlemen, I asked for butchers' PAPER.

You gotta laugh or you'll cry!

Hagrid's got a Girlfriend!!!!!!

Her name is Honey.  They met at the factory and haven't seen each other in about a year. She came over a few weeks ago for a date.  They are so cute.

Hagrid was a bit shy at first, but Honey took his hand and they were inseparable.

Big Flower Making the Email Rounds

The largest flower in the world was blooming in Blanco , Veracruz , Mexico . Measuring 2 meters high and weighing 75 kilograms, it has the peculiarity of blooming only during three days every 40 years.  It reminds me of the plant in "The Little Shop of Horrors."  I wonder if any of the locals are missing?

You had to be there

On the way home from Church today, Mum remembered that she forgot to take the meat out of the freezer for lunch.  We decided to go to Red Rooster to buy a Chicken Dinner.  They roast chicken and a range of vegetables and serve it all in separate boxes so you can take it home, put it on a plate and act like a domestic goddess.  The drive-thru was packed with cars, so we parked and went inside to order.  When Mum ordered, the lovely girl behind the counter (her name was Erin) smiled and said, "I'm sorry Ma'am, we don't have any chickens at the moment.  We're out."

I cracked up laughing, I nearly fell over!  The Chicken Place was OUT of CHICKEN!!!!!!

Apparently they ran out and just had to cook more.  It would take about ten minutes, so I went to the shops across the road and Mum went to get petrol.  When we returned there was plenty of chicken to o around.

I have said many things... obviously... and I have sometimes been quite befuddled by the responses I received.  This is usually a result of my speaking before thinking.  Although, there are times when I am genuinely confused because I simply do not understand my audience.  So, I am going to tell you some of the responses my words/ actions have rendered.  I am not, however, going to tell you what I did to provoke them.
PS. I originally thought this would be a poem.  I'm not sure that it is there yet, but maybe it is there.  No pattern, no rhyme.. Nan would say it isn't a poem!  I don't know anymore.

I don't like angry things
That is beautiful
I don't like that
Get a treadmill
Watch out
What are you doing?
What did I do now?
This sucks
I hate you
I love you
You are awesome
Thank you
You're welcome
Do you think so?
You are so wise
I beg your pardon
That is excellent
You are annoyingly brilliant
I liked that we hugged
I can't see it working
How will you do that?
Wait here
Do you know what you are getting yourself into?
Can you come in today?
Are there parts missing?
I think you need to leave
You have been selected for the position
Will you come with me?
Are you okay?
Where does it hurt?
That was unnecessary
I was trying to help
I am proud of you
Okay Okay
When can you start?
I know
I would be happy to
I can see
I'm glad
That is the whole point of these assignments... to make you question the world
You are too calm
Calm down
I appreciate your effort
I appreciate everything you do
I think you are amazing
Toughen up
I really don't know how you do it
Suck it up Princess
Thank you for teaching me
I get it now
I passed
I failed
You could have done better
Is that good?
Are you a Christian?
Where are you going?
Are you sure you want to do this?
Are you pregnant?
Where are you?
Did you fall again?
I will be right there
I can't come
What do you want me to do?
You don't trust me
I love Honey
I love it
Of course you can come
You're my friend

Questions... especially Why?

I am one of those people who asks a lot of questions.  I even ask if I am able to ask a question.  My tendency towards curiosity (usually for no apparent reason) seems to annoy people, especially those closest to me.  I think when I get to know someone, my curiosity grows and my censorship shrinks.  In short, I am less afraid to ask questions of those I am close to whereas I might hold back if I don't know someone well.

I digress... already!

Questions are an important part of the learning process.  Our inquisitiveness and curiosity are the cornerstones of technological devleopment, scientific discovery and the understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Experts agree on this, however I can not remember any of their names.  Hang on... I will google it for you.  Here you go.. if you are super interested these two links will tell you more.

Questioning can be a productive and useful exercise for the learner trying to understand the world around them.  It is also helpful for extracting finite amounts of information from a knowledgeable source.  For example:
Why is the sky blue?
Where should I put my new books?
What are we having for dinner?
Where can I buy milk?
Which bus will I take to get to school?
What is 4x5?
Can you explain it so I understand?

However, questioning can also be a counter-productive and ultimately frustrating endeavour.  Especially when there is no truly correct answer.  For example:
Why did Dad leave when I was 6?
What on earth was I thinking?
How is this my fault?
How can I make it better?
Why can't I make it better?
Why don't you love me anymore?
Where did I go wrong?
Is it my fault?
Why do the other kids laugh at me when I talk?
Why can't I do that?
What am I afraid of?
Why is it so unfair?
Why me?
When will it end?
Who could love me?
What will I do?
Why don't I understand?
Why am I different?

The frustrating, unanswerable questions are infinite.  I could go on forever.  Don't worry, I won't.

My point is that we can spend a lifetime wondering and questioning our current "status" or we can live our "status" instead.  Don't ever stop asking questions... because that is how we begin to understand and grow and learn... don't ever be afraid to ask...but recognise that some questions will never have an answer to satisfy you or ease your mind.

In short...

PS Thanks Bestie: for at least trying to answer my questions, for helping me choose the ones to hold to, for helping me let go of the others and, for teaching me "when there is doubt there is Google"!

What was I going to say?

Lately I have had a great deal of info bouncing around in my head.  It's like I said to the BFF the other day, I have about a months worth of blogging in my head, I just can't get it out!  Today I have a bit of time... only a bit mind you... and do you think I can remember what I was going to write about?

I have no idea.

Well, actually, I have a few remnants of the previous weeks happenings, but nothing that is making a fully formed idea.  Not yet anyway.  I suppose I just wanted to tell you that I am not finished.

I have plenty more to say, if only I could remember it!

Habit Forming

I have come to another conclusion.  After being "without" the internet for approximately half an hour and quickly descending into withdrawal symptoms (shortness of breath, headache, anxiety and an overall feeling of missing out) I can only deduce one thing.

I am addicted to the internet!!!

Spare a thought for the BFF.  Her housemate now has:
1. neuropathic pain
2. some sort of depression (although we don't call it that)
3. a teddy bear that talks to her!
4. food allergies
5. an exercise senitivity
6. a life altering addiction.

Poor BFF!!!

After extensive research into the matter and collection of rather a lot of data, I have come to a conclusion.

I am allergic to EXERCISE!!!

The BFF says it's just hay fever.
The Physio says that a runny nose is no excuse.
Dad says he is not at all surprised because he is allergic to exercise too!
I have been vindicated.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Mac and Cheese

I made mac and cheese!!!

1. Follow directions on the instant pasta pack.
2. Steam some vegetables and then pour it all into a baking dish.

3. Smother it with cheese and a secret ingredient.

4. Put it in the oven for about 15 minutes.

5. Serve in a bowl, add salt and pepper to taste.

Hagrid Enjoyed it too!

I love Mac and Cheese :D

It has to be said!

"The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it."
~James Bryce

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

“A person's a person, no matter how small.” Dr. Seuss, Horton Hears a Who!

To read a writer is for me not merely to get an idea of what he says, but to go off with him and travel in his company.
- Andre Gide

Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.

"Wear the old coat and buy the new book."

If you have not yet cracked a smile, there is nothing I can do for you!

More Smiles!

Sometimes, you have to find a smile.
Sometimes you can't stifle a laugh.
Sometimes a friend gives you a smile.
Sometimes a smile will simply cross your path.

It's a JOKE BOOK... Get it?!
