Excitement

Poetry can be written simply using words associated with a theme.  The process can begin with a brainstorming session... no word is wrong.  What comes to mind when you hear... excitement? Record every word that enters your head.  Then you narrow it down, reduce the number of synonyms and link words together.  Try to give the poem a form or pattern, even if it isn't rhyming.  This activity can help children to compose poems and learn that poetry is not just rhyme.

Happy Anticipation
Laughing, Jumping
Giggles, Voices
Hugs, Tears, Song

Friends, Family

Excitement

I thought this was fitting today.  I am beginning some volunteer work at a local school this morning and  I am excited!
